Welcome:

The Jewish Cultural School (JCS) of Suffolk County provides a comprehensive secular Jewish education for children ages six through their bar/bat mitzvah. We supplement our educational programs with family activities - holiday celebrations, social gatherings and cultural events. For over 39 years the JCS has offered children and their families an opportunity to discover and participate in their Jewish culture within a framework that encourages diversity, equality, social justice and peace.

Our educational program develops a strong secular Jewish identity in children based on the history, culture, values and traditions of the Jewish people from ancient times to the present. Children learn in an environment that is fun, creative and encourages individual and social growth. The curriculum includes studies of history, bible, ethics, literature, music, language, theater, cooking, holiday traditions, politics and social awareness.

Our social program includes activities centered on the rich tapestry of our Jewish culture. Year round holiday celebrations and programming highlight issues of Jewish and universal importance. Adults are encouraged to celebrate the rhythms of life, participate in book discussions, attend workshops and special events. Together, families develop a secular, cultural and ethical Jewish identity.
